GST/PST/HST applications are a burden on your administration staff. Often, your finance department is already overworked and understaffed to dedicate additional personel to the chore of filing the applications for the refund / rebate claims. Many of our clients are under the impression that their auditors file the Refund/Rebate claims for them. Unfortunately, most auditors do not provide this service. The audit process is simply to make sure that the checks and balances are accurate – therefore, it is in the client's best interest to enquire with their auditors if they: a) offer the tax recovery review service and b) if they file all the necessary claims on the band's/non-profit organization's behalf and c) if there is an additional charge for the service. 99% of the time, clients are surprised to find out that it has been more than 4 years since the claims have been filed - yet they were sure that their auditors filed these claims on their behalf! It is always best to have a signing officer call CRA to get confirmation that rebate/refund claims were made. If no claims were made then that’s where our service can be of great benefit to you!
